Natasha Watley Softball League

The centerpiece of NWF is the Natasha Watley Softball League (NWSL) in Los Angeles, CA. Through collaborative partnerships with the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation & Parks. Established in 2008, young girls ages 8-15, mainly of African American (39%) and Latino (61%) backgrounds participate in summer & fall softball leagues. Many of the participants are playing for the first-time and learning life skills that transcend the softball field.

CLINICS

Skill training clinics are put on by our coach mentors and softball community throughout the leagues. NWF has partnered with Dodger foundation, Softball University to provide instructional clinics.

4 Points of the Diamond Camps

Learn new skills, drills, and mindset tips with our Coach Mentors during a 5 Day experience. Our summer camps cover all the bases from hitting, fielding, throwing, nutrition, mindset, and learning the 4 Points of the Diamond.

The pinnacle of NWSL is the Coach Mentor component. This program matches top female scholar athletes from universities nationwide, with a local recreation center team. Each mentor is responsible for coaching, teaching the four points of the diamond, providing free instructional clinics throughout the year and recruiting young girls to play.

4 POINTS OF THE DIAMOND ESSAY CONTEST

Each player is responsible for submitting an essay based on the core values of character and the Four Points of The Diamond-duty, discipline, dedication and dignity. The winners have won weekends at National Professional Fastpitch Championship, A night at a Dodger game and merchandise.

INTERNATIONAL COACH CULTURE EXPERIENCE

As part of the Coach Mentor program and further continue the development and experiences of our coach mentors, in partnership with Run the Bases Foundation in 2018 and 2019 we have sent coaches to The Gambia to spread the love of the game
